Building 18, better known as Dorm 18, was built in the early 1970's as housing for enlisted men and low grade NCOs.  It was a multi-level "barracks" style dormitory with rooms that could quarter one or two persons and housed male soldiers.  Shared "squad bay" style bathrooms were located on each floor and contained the shower and toilet facilities for the whole floor.

Dorm 18 housed soldiers from different units at different times, but was predominantly occupied by security police personnel.  Airmen were assigned cleaning/maintenance (orderly) duties for a week at a time and were charged with keeping the building clean.  This duty rotated between airmen assigned to the dorm and was scheduled by the dorm manager or "Dorm Chief" and conducted in lieu of their regular SP duties.

The dorm was situated on a hill above the SP building was home to the infamous "boot tree".  It was the scene of frequent parties, noise complaints, streaking incidents, and all-out anarchy.  Boy, do I miss it!

Dorm 18 then (1990).  At least the grass was mowed.
Dorm 18 ingenuity at it's best.  Guy moves out...turn over a bookcase, fill the rest of em' with liquor and there you have it...instant bar!
"E's Pub" I think it was called

The boot tree.  I wonder if there are still boots in that thing.

Decorated and all.  My contribution was a bottle of Southern Comfort and the graffitti on the bar.
Not everyone came out of that room on their feet.

Gotta love the Air Force... not only do you get to do your job for $3 an hour, but you get to remodel your own dorm!
Ahhhh...words fail me.
